Barber Shops

Let me set the stage for a moment… picture a 7 to 8 year old boy with whitish blonde hair in 1 of 3 styles: bowl, mullet, rattail. Not a beautiful picture, is it? Well, that was me; at least until my dad decided to start taking me to Nick’s Barber Shop off of Center Street in Kingsport. I would sit and watch the old (to me at the time) men talk shop and I would pop open a glass bottle of coke. Watching my dad’s face shaved by what looks like an assassin’s tool was scary but somehow it only made me yearn for a beard. Fast forward to my college days and the preceding years and you would find me with the standard American haircut or a straight buzz I might have done myself (my wife hated when I cut my own hair). It wasn’t until styled beards were trending that I noticed barber shops popping back up. This time, however, the cuts were not the old-fashioned haircuts I remember but a new style that brought modern looks to manly professionalism. Not only that, but news traveled fast and everyone was talking about their favorite barbershop, Wampler’s. My cousin’s, Josh and Isaac, came to our super bowl party with the best haircuts I had ever seen them with and they couldn’t stop talking about it. Not long afterward my brother in law came to the house looking quite spiffy with a new do as well. I was intrigued, so I went to the place everyone was raving about, Wamplers’ Barber Co.

The Best Look I Have Ever Had

Wampler’s Barber Co. is manned by some of the best barbers in the area. Every barber on staff excels at making your hair and beard look attractive and professional. But that isn’t all there is to the experience when you come to visit Wampler’s. While you are there you will get to hear men talking shop just like I did when I would go with my dad back in the day. The shop itself is unique and well decorated. The men you meet are friendly and treat you like a neighbor (the kind you like anyway). But the best thing I can say about Wampler’s is that for the first time in a long time, I am actually excited to get back out and get my hair cut again.

For the first time in a long time, I am actually excited to get back out and get my hair cut again.

If you are a man and looking for a way to change your image; Wampler’s should be your first stop. My favorite part is that you will get to participate in the comradery of the barbershop experience. But the best part is that every time I go I get compliments for the next week or two about my hair (especially from my wife). Women have salons, but we want to appreciate barber shops for giving men another option, a place to go and get a great haircut again. If you want to reach out to Wampler’s or see their work we have provided links in the next section.

For giving men a way to look professional without the boring haircuts and beard styles.
